The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) connects how an individual’s beliefs attribute to their action and behaviour. The TPB began as the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) in 1980, initially the model was used to predict an individual’s intention to engage in a behaviour at a certain time and place (Fishbein & Ajzen 1975, Ajzen & Fishbein 1980). The TPB is an extension of the TRA as the model now incorporates the theory of perceived behavioural control. The TPB is a broadly used behavioural model, it helps allow people to understand how an individual’s behaviour can change.
