Long term social, economic and political discontent of Russians was a significant cause of the 1917 February revolution, as it sowed the seeds of the desire for change, however discontent was not the most important cause of the revolution, as Tsar Nicholas II’s political resistance to reform during the events of Bloody Sunday and The October Manifesto played a larger role, resulting in the rise of revolutionary groups within Russia, as did the most important cause of the abdication of the Tsar being Russias involvement in World War One, which acted as a catalyst for the 1917 revolution.
