Three attributes for effective leadership: ¥ Diagnosing: understanding the current future situation ¥ Adopting: able to change behaviour and resources ¥ Communicating: able to explain the strategy and supportive about the change, if not employees resist to change. Appreciate the knowledge and experience of their colleagues and can consult with their colleagues, be able to understand concerns and anxieties + treat employees with dignity and respect. ¥ Leader: is a person who is able to motivate employees to commit to the business objectives and implement change. ¥ A leader is important in the change process as they could be able to communicate the change vision. ¥ This supports the implementation of the change as stakeholders are prepared and employees understand what the strategies are and how to implement them. ¥ In addition, a leader through communication and being supportive can reduce the fear of the unknown and motivate employee’s commitment to implementing the change. ¥ The leader should role model and guide the employees to that the change is effectively implemented. ¥ Leaders should be able to explain the strategy, implement changes effectively and keep staff informed. If this does not occur employees can become cynical and resist the change.
