US-CHINA Relationship:Long-term enemies? Describe the debate Nowadays, the controversy of relationship between United States and China leads to two divided viewpoints, some argued that conflicts is inevitable between US and China because of China’s growing military and economic power in Asia-Pacific region. Others believed that cooperation can ensure the vital interests for both countries. The team for the motion(Peter Brookes and John Mearsheimer) suggests that territory disputes among south China sea,cyber-attacks and increasing military spending lead to a more aggressive image of China. Besides, China only pursues its own national interests and they take no international responsibility as an emerging global power. On the other hand, the team against the motion(Kevin Rudd and Robert Doly) argued sovereignty and non-intervention is the basic foundation of China’s foreign policy. And the adversarial relationship between US and China will damage the US economy and lose an important business partner. These two viewpoints reach distinct conclusion of the US-China relationship in the future.
