the experiment about blocking, looks at Recorla & Wagner, Kamin and Shanks Abstract: Previous research has explained the concept of blocking, surprise and associative strength of a stimulus, this experiment aimed identify the relevance of these concepts in regards to testing the effectiveness of blocking while manipulating the cues presented in the form of rare or common frequency. The design of the experiment replicated a food allergist task, whilst being tested in a pre exposure phase, blocking phase followed by a test phase. The implications expose that context plays an important role in the pre-exposure and blocking phases. The results from the test phase showed that due to context and associative strength the common outcome was predicted more than the rare, unlike what we originally predicted.
