psyc1001 essay
Psyc1001 essay for University of Sydney Semester 1 2013.
Question:
In a paper published atthe end oflast year,Harden (2012)found that if people report
having sex for the first time after 19,they are less likely to be involved in romantic
relationships laterin life, but also report less relationship dissatisfaction if they are. While
Harden’s data are comprehensive, the study is correlational in nature, which means he
can only speculate (on p.1332) as to why this is the case. For example do the relationships
between these variables arise from attachment style, pickiness, or the different personal
experiences that result from either early or late sexual experiences? Your task is write a
1000‐word essay (plus ~150 word abstract)which makes a strong but qualified argument
in support of any possible explanation for Harden’s(2012) key findings. Ensure you
support every aspect of your argument with evidence obtained from peer reviewed
sources(i.e. do not speculate wildly based on your own experience).
