Waste, Recycling And The Circular Economy In Australia

PHYS5031 - Ecological Econ and Sustainable Analysis

4 Pages Essays / Projects Year Uploaded: 2018

Recent media reports on recycling ‘rorts’ and ‘crises’ in Australia have brought the issue of waste and recycling to heightened public and political interest. Although Australia has a comprehensive National Waste Policy (2009), the federal government under the Liberal-National coalition has yet to take action, leaving states and territories scrambling to resolve issues. As such, this document is directed at federal Minister Josh Frydenberg and the Department for the Environment and Energy. Informed by a circular economy approach, this briefing will firstly outline the causes and implications surrounding recent developments, before critically analysing current policy conditions, making recommendations and finally offering some potential outcomes that can be achieved.
