What is being done to pursue this goal, and is the goal likely to be met by 2015 The United Nations Millennium Development Goal's (MDG) are a declaration established in the 2000 millennium summit by the largest assembly of headship (United Nations, 2013). Inaugurated by the United Nations , an organisation dedicated to international peace and development, eight goals were affirmed by Member states in addressing poverty, disease, education, equality, and sustainability (basic human rights) by the target year of 2015 through global alliance and contribution (Millennium Project, 2006). MDG four has been aimed at decreasing the mortality rate of children, under the age of five, by two-thirds between the 1990 and 2015 time frame and also drafting health schemes and initiatives for children on both a domestic and international level (Hill, You, Inoue & Oestergaard, 2012).
