GOVT2424 CCP Resilience Marked 78/100
GOVT2424 - Politics of China
9 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year: Pre-2021
It has been 40 years since the ‘Third wave of democracy’ started from Portugal, (Huntington, 2012) the four decades have witnessed the huge wave of democratization and the collapse of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes all around the world. However, not all of them were wiped out, China was among one of the remaining authoritarian regimes, and it seems a powerful one which could threat the ideology of liberal democracy. (Fukuyama, 2014) This essay will focus on the reason behind the resilience of CCP. We will analyze the economic reform in China and its impact on CCP’s regime, to what extent do they contribute to the sustainability of CCP. We will further examine the historical and cultural aspects, including the revolutionary legacy of CCP. Some external and international elements will be discussed as well.
