First Design Assignment
4 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year: Pre-2018
The Renaissance art period corresponds to the ‘rebirth’ of art, particularly in regards to painting, techniques and colour (Knauer, 2015). The appearance of colour depends on three interrelated attributes - hue, saturation and tone. Hue can be classified as the family of true colours that form the full spectrum of the colour wheel (Kaya & Epps, 2004). Throughout the Renaissance era, colour hues played a pivotal role in the development of various painting techniques, enhancing artwork, evoking emotional responses, and in symbolism. Colour was also utilised by Renaissance artists to evoke human responses and particular colour associations.
