This report describes a tension test on a steel coupon, and a compression test on a concrete cylinder. The main aim of the tests was to obtain the stress strain curves for the two materials. Both test methods are described. It was found that the steel coupon exhibited different behaviours (elastic, plastic, strain hardening, necking and fracture), and had a yield stress about 348.45MPa, an ultimate stress about 465.36MPa, an elastic modulus about 211.0GPa, and a strain at failure about 29.86%. It was found that the concrete exhibited a highly non-linear behaviour and had an ultimate strength about 35.65MPa in compression, an elastic modulus about 34.92GPa and a strain at failure about 0.52%
