Environmental Concepts - Environment is a general term (eg social, business or political environment) - The focus for this course is NATURAL ENVIRONMENT - Definition - Earth’s natural world, as a whole or in a particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activities - The complex pof physical, chemical, and biotic factors (such as climate, soil and living things) that act upon organism or an ecological community and ultimately determine its form and survival - DISTINGUISH between - Anthropocentrism → Based on the belief that human beings (HB) are the most important entity in the universe, It considers and interprets the world in terms of human values and experiences. - Biocentrism → an ethical POV that extends the inherent value of all living things. - The environment can be approached by different perspectives - Science and Engineering - Economics - Health and Medicine - Law and Justice - Politics
