Indeed, even common ethical concerns seemed to require a special approach to resolve within the context (Green, 1999:1718). The first issue was the reluctance of Client 1 to fully disclose the details of her matter. This was perfectly understandable due to its ostensibly embarrassing nature. However, it was necessary that I was aware of all material facts so that the solicitor could provide the correct advice. Ultimately, I resolved this issue by applying the Parker & Evans three-step model (2014:31). The initial stage involved recognising that it would be improper to compel the client into divulging this information if they felt uncomfortable doing so (Hyams, Campbell & Evans, 2013:33).
