Organisational Culture 2 Organisational culture embeds norms, rules, values and behaviours that are shared among 3 employees in a company, which can be considered as micro or sub-culture (Foo, 2008). WWE 4 is a media and entertainment company, producing live TV shows. The high public exposure 5 places a heavy emphasis to portrait a good public image in order to strengthen its brand 6 identity. This requires high level of disclosure and transparency in the financial reports. 7 Aristocrat’s business, on the other hand, is more internal as it focuses on producing gaming 8 machine and thus less public concern compared to WWE. On the surface, both companies 9 disclosed similar information such as corporate governance, director remuneration and main 10 accounting policies. A closer inspection reveals that WWE has a much more extensive 11 disclosure of risk compared to Aristocrat. The 2013 financial report of WWE clearly outlined 12 all current risks such litigation, unresolved staff comments as well as quantitative and 13 qualitative disclosure of market risk. Aristocrat only mentioned briefly about its financial risk 14 (Appendix 2, pp.5-6). The extensive disclosure of WWE clearly signals the transparency of its 15 operation to stakeholders, which in turns reinforces its culture of maintaining good public 16 image.
