A survey carried out among university students to determine if the social perception phenomenon of the false consensus effect could be replicated from past empirical research.The 241 participants completed an online survey featuring two similar but different scenarios and were asked for their reaction and how they expected their cohorts to react. Results indicated a statistically significant false conscensus effect.The false consensus effect is a valid social phenomenon but must be raised with caution. Further research could include a follow up with the same cohort after four years of study
