Explicit & Implicit Attitude Towards Obesity
PSY20016 - Social Psychology
1 Found helpful • 4 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year: Pre-2021
There are two components to this assignment: 1A – Group presentation and 1B – Individual report. Both will be based on the same data that is generated by the team. This is the individual report based on attitudes. Attitudes can be defined as an individual’s evaluation of an object, event or social issue. Social psychologists have long acknowledged that some attitudes are subconscious, automatic and intuitive judgements made in response to stimuli, whereas other attitudes result from a more conscious, controllable and reflective thought process. Recently, there has been considerable debate about whether we are aware of our attitudes. In particular, the debate has focused around whether it is possible that we have unconscious biases in relation to certain objects or issues. In this assignment, you will explore this topic by measuring explicit and implicit attitudes towards people suffering from obesity.
