Assignment 1B
This paper was graded 95/100 (TP2, 2020)
This is the second component of Assignment 1 for Social Psych - the Individual report. Component one was the group presentation.
The topic was about implicit and explict attitudes on people with obesity.
The second component questions were as follows:
Present and discuss the pooled results. Were the results generally consistent across the two types of attitude measures? Discuss the reasons why implicit and explicit attitude measures may lead to divergent results. How does this relate to the results for your group?
Research shows that attitudes do not always predict behaviour. Although anti-fat attitudes have been widely documented in the literature, such attitudes may not necessarily predict discrimination (negative behaviour) towards obese persons. Drawing on your learning from Week 2, discuss the conditions under which anti-fat attitudes will lead to discrimination against obese persons. Discuss this according to the theory of planned behaviour. In particular, discuss two elements of the theory of planned behaviour (other than attitudes themselves), and provide examples of how each of these factors might impact anti-fat discrimination.
