Choose an age group of children you wish to work with: early childhood age group (0-5) or lower primary age group (5-8) Select two resources that are creative and engaging, one for each of your chosen areas of mathematical thinking. One of these must utilise ICT to enhance numeracy and mathematics teaching and learning. Resources in this assessment task are defined as tools that are used to support teaching and learning. Below are some resources to prompt your thinking: An ipad app. A maths website. A game. Blocks. Natural materials. Mathematics-specific resources (e.g. abacus). Balancing scales. Picture story books. Big books. Dice. YouTube video. Once you have chosen your resources you will be required to complete the following information: Name and evidence of resource (What is the resource called? Picture of resource or link to the resource). Age group (to what age group is the resource applicable e.g. toddlers, Year 1 students, etc). Bishop's category (name the category that you are focusing on – one category per resource). A rationale. Your rationale should explain: why the resource will scaffold learning in the chosen category. You will be able to draw on the ideas presented in Chapters 1-7 of the eText to support and link your explanation to theory how you would use this resource with children to scaffold and extend mathematical learning. You will be able to draw on the ideas presented about pedagogy in Week 5 and 6. You might also draw on your knowledge of child development in this section
