An OncomirR is a form of microRNA (mi-RNA) oncogene that has a casual role in the onset and/or maintenance of cancer phenotypes(4) that have the expression of mi-RNAs deregulated under sundry pathological conditions such as cancer(5). These mi-RNAs can either be described as tumour suppressor genes or oncogenes and play a fundamental role in cell development, differentiation, cell cycle and apoptosis. Changes in mi-RNA expression levels are an indication of either abnormal or disease conditions within tissues and body systems, especially in cancer (10). Cancer is defined as “a clinical condition that is manifested by the presence of one or another type of neoplastic growth” (12) and is caused through the inopportune survival of damaged cells within the body and uncontrollable proliferation (6). This uncontrollable proliferation or damage to cells can result in tumour formation and is one of the most serious diseases globally (2) with 9.6 million deaths in 2018, accounting for one of the leading causes of death worldwide(9) .
