A difference in perception and prior experience can generate value. Good conflict involves polite debate and a sharing of ideas and will almost always result in reciprocally agreed-on resolutions that are very often better than the initial solutions. Negative team conflict typically erupts not only because of a difference in opinion, but because of a perceived incompatibility between the ways different members both think and act. This negative conflict follows disagreement between team members, where they simply cannot move past their differences, effectively killing all productivity and innovation.
