PSY235 - Developmental Psychology
2 Found helpful • 9 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year: Pre-2021
Parenting is challenging and health professionals recognise that many parents need assistance in managing child behaviour. Two popular intervention approaches designed to help parents are Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and the Triple P Positive Parenting Program. Choose one of these approaches: 1) Briefly outline the theoretical basis for the approach, i.e., how the approach is thought to work to improve parenting and child behaviour. 2) Critically evaluate the evidence that the intervention is associated with improved parenting and/or child behaviour. Be sure to consider methodological issues (study design, how intervention outcomes were assessed, nature of control conditions, samples characteristics (e.g., referred families or community samples, age of children, types of behaviour problems).
