The Hajj is one of the five pillars of faith (Arkan Al-Islam) that the Islamic adherent must undertake once in their lifetime if physically, mentally and financially fit to do so. It is a journey to Mecca in the twelfth month of the Muslim Calendar, Dhul-Hijjah (Quran Surah 2 verse 197), that strengthens a believer’s bond and relationship with God. This religious practice holds great significance in an adherent’s life as it signifies one’s commitment and trust in Allah, that he will provide and guide the adherent. It also provides a sense of unity within the community of helping and preparing an individual in their journey to Mecca. Through the many rituals and symbols within the practice itself, expressions of the Articles of Faith (Aqida) are evident that further reinforce the believer’s faith.
