Noroviruses are comprised of a group of highly contagious viruses that are acknowledged as the leading cause of foodborne diseases and gastroenteritis. Specifically, they cause inflammation of the stomach and large intestine, also known as gastroenteritis. Anybody can contract norovirus and due to the wide range of strains, it is difficult for a person’s body to develop long-term immunity and you can get norovirus more than once in your lifetime (Department of Health, 2010).
