AIM: The primary aim of assignment 1 is to offer you an opportunity for early engagement with the assessment process. Assignment 1 is based on a formative assessment process. Formative assessment has been found to support commencing students’ engagement and learning. This assignment is scheduled early in the trimester so you can receive early feedback and therefore address any identified deficits. After completing this assignment you will understand the value of reflective practice in nursing & have identified a plan for career success as a registered nurse (RN). TASK DESCRIPTION: For this task you need to write a short, 850 word essay in which you: A. Define reflection and describe how reflective practice is important for the RN role. Use at least two scholarly sources to build your discussion. B. Reflect on three personal attributes, traits and strengths you possess. Select two attributes, traits or strengths and discuss how these will be useful in the RN role. Use at least two scholarly sources to build your discussion. C. Using the information from your Career Action Plan Worksheet create a Career Action Plan. Be sure to:  Identify your career goal  Describe key skills that are required for the nursing profession. (You may like to review the RN professional videos in the career focus module as a starting point and use scholarly evidence to support your discussion).  Outline a plan for developing the additional skills required from both curricular and extracurricular activities. Within this plan, identify broad timelines of major activities you will undertake between now and the end of your degree to obtain these skills.
