The second theory that will be discussed is short responding time with high confidence often have a high accuracy rate. Dunning and Perretta (2002, p. 951- 962) conducted 4 studies on this theory. The quantities of participants were different, most of them were university students. All participants were asked to watch a video that showed a man stole a purse a lady left on the table near the vending machine. They then identified the culprit from photo lineups and rate their confidence afterwards. Participants who identified the culprit within 10 seconds had 87% of the accuracy rate. The other results for average accuracy rate were as follows: 11-20 seconds, 52%; 21-30 second, 51%; 31-40 seconds, 40.7%.
