Part one. 1.1 Problem description. A community is having trouble with out of the area delinquent youth drinking, taking drugs, fighting and vandalising in the local park at night most nights of the week. They are also experiencing break ins and the slashing of tires on houses close to the park in the daytime. 1.2 Dependant variable. Teenage delinquency in park. 1.3 Possible cause. Mr Gleeson believes that lighting could be the main issue to the problem. 1.4 Independent variable. Inadequate lighting in park. 1.5 Type of logic or research method used. Mr Gleeson used the after-the-fact method to find the possible cause/s for the teenage delinquency in the park. He identified the Dependant variable as the teenage delinquency and then tried to find out the possible cause or causes in the form of a IV. Several IV were suggested by Cory Allen and after critical thinking Mr Gleeson refuted them and identified insufficient lighting as the sole IV. Mr Gleeson used logical evidence.
