The Relationship Between Stress, Depression and Obesity

1003PSY - Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology

15 Pages Essays / Projects Year: Pre-2021 Previously uploaded under: 1003PSY - Research Methods and Statistics 1

The physical consequences and medical causes of obesity are well-known; however, possible psychological causes or consequences have been less thoroughly explored. This report therefore examines the relationship between stress and obesity; depression and obesity; and self belief and obesity. It found that stress and depression had correlations to obesity, while self belief had a negative correlation to obesity. This was the expected result of the questionnaire. Correlation tables can be found in the Results section, and scatterplots can be found in Appendix 1. The results written in this report show that further research into each of these correlational relationship is warranted in the future to better understand the psychological implications of obesity on the individual.
