Mastermind game : Entropy of code jars and number of queries

People’s particular targets are often achieved by reducing the probability of a particular area. This study was conducted to see higher probability would cause higher number of queries. It was hypothesized that it has positive correlation between the both variables. An independent measures and opportunity sampling were used. There were 48 participants (10 males, 38 females) in this study and they were all psychology students. The independent variable was the entropy level of a code jar and the dependent variable was the number of queries. This sample had 40 participants in total, but two people were excluded due to too many failed instructions attempts. The results of this study had proven the alternative hypotheses we stated were accepted. There is a relationship between the entropy level of code jar and the number of queries needed and the number of queries needed is also positively correlated with the entropy in the code jar. Future studies are recommended with some different methodologies to gain higher reliability and validity.
