Milton’s Epic Landscapes in Paradise Lost Hell and Darkness Visible
EAS1035 - Beginnings: English Literature Before 1800
4 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year Uploaded: 2022
This was a summative essay for the module "Beginnings: English Literature Before 1800" on Milton's "Paradise Lost". Word count was 1000. Mark received: 72. Feedback: This essay on the representation of the landscape of hell in Paradise Lost contains much excellent material. You provide effective close reading, such as the fricative flames of hell. You also engage with an appropriate range of secondary material, including some critical evaluation challenging or building upon the arguments made in secondary sources, as well as thoughtful arguments of your own, such as the rivers of hell both providing geographical rooting and personifying negative emotions. The essay is let down a little by presentational issues – you usually need punctuation to introduce a quotation unless the syntax flows on from the preceding sentence, and there are some other typos and punctuation errors. Nevertheless, the content of this essay is excellent. Well done!
