EAS1032 - Approaches to Criticism
4 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year Uploaded: 2022
This was a Formative essay for "Approaches to criticism" and received a mark of 58 for which the feedback was: This is a really smart, materialist description – and demystification – of Israel’s colonial occupation of Palestinian lands. You do well in the account of bringing the historical data together into what is, unmistakable, an image of settler colonialism. Where I think this could improve, which has more to do with the task itself than your thinking, is by addressing the theoretical concerns. If this is an analysis of colonization or colonialism, a case study in an idea, you ought to spend more to thinking through that idea: how, for example, is colonization different from imperialism, and how do its cultural forms articulate with geopolitical and, here, military concerns?
