I sat on my stool in a nearby cafe positioned in front of the busy road. The sun glazed above me with its bright luminous light that gave life to the beautiful trees that were the only source of nature in my surroundings. I clutched my notebook dearly into my hand, the spirals digging into my palm which did not faze me as this was the life of a passionate artist. My pencil sketched on the paper sourced from the trees of Arizona and I drew the scene around me in scrupulous detail. I drew a replica of the apartments, clouds, birds and the stray cats walking along the pavement as if they were humans striding along casually to go to work. Our future was becoming the dream of a dystopian lunatic as the airs were murky and smelled of diesel. I could hear the rubber wheels scratching the road, leaving a screeching sound that made me shiver. Such machines which detonated the environment, and yet we still chose to use them. The leaves glistened in the sun, reaching out for hope and not letting our neglect cause its death and fragmented demeanour. Such beautiful minutiae in this world yet we have become blinded by avarice and money that we are not fazed by nature’s relinquished absence.
