This research log includes reflections, it has been maintained to verify the authenticity of the research and synthesis of the findings. Based on the findings of this research journal, a report will be written which will provide the reader with an introduction explaining the nature of tort law and how it is applied to disputes in contemporary society. Grade Received: A Thesis statement: The tort of negligence achieves its fundamental purpose by allowing individuals to be compensated due to another’s negligent conduct which has caused damage or injury. Rationale: This research journal endeavours to discover how and to what extent the law of torts protects key stakeholders in contemporary society. The tort of Negligence is one of the most significant areas of law in Australia and entitles individuals to commence legal action against those who have not exercised reasonable care when a duty of care is owed. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the law, pertinent research questions must be devised which will explore key areas of the tort of negligence. It is hypothesised that the law adequately affords protection to stakeholders with respect to negligence. My strengths that will assist me to conduct a thorough and effective research journal includes my ability to write coherently, interpret legislation and evaluate the credibility of sources.
