This is my high scoring and award-winning creative response to Maxine Beneba-Clarke's anthology Foreign Soil. It focuses on the consequences of a subverted concept of segregation in a 1960 society and its effects on the human experience. I drew upon Clarke's use of narrative voice, contextual cues, biblical allegory, structure and culturally specific language from the short stories Big Islan, The Stilt Fishermen of Kathaluwa, Railton Road and more.
