UEMX1843 Learning the Use of Theodolite Instrument
This practical demonstrates the setting up and use of theodolite instrument in surveying works.
A theodolite is a high-precision optical tool that is used to calculate vertical and horizontal
angles. It comprises of a movable telescope with horizontal and vertical axes that can revolve
and pivot. Users look through the telescope at numerous sites and obtain readings from the
instrument to determine the angle(s) between them. To use the device to read the vertical axis,
you must first find your zero point, which should be facing forward at exactly zero degrees
elevation from the instrument. Then, angle the sight and make a note of the angle formed by
these two points. In many circumstances, you'll additionally have to take measurements below
the zero point. Additionally, the horizontal angle can be captured in a similar method but the
difference is that instead of the scope pivoting, it is measured when the instrument spins around
its centre point.
