Impact of water jack

When a moving fluid hit an object, it will exert forces on the object. The object will then be pushed after contact with the moving fluid. The force that the fluid exerted on the object can be determined by applying the Newton’s second law which stated that the applied force is equal to the rate of change of momentum. Besides, the force exerted by a jet of fluid on the different type of deflector with different angles of deflection can be calculated by applying the momentum equation. This experiment is able to help the study of fluid mechanics and help to produce a better hydraulic machinery by enhance our knowledge in how the angle of deflector affect the magnitude of the force. This experiment will be carried out by using deflector with angle of 60°, 90°, and 130°. The responding variable will be the flow rate of the water jet.
