Across Period 3 from left to right, it include Sodium, Magnesium, Aluminium, Silicon, Phosphorus and Sulphur . Also , it contains metal, metalloid and non-metal. For instance, sodium , magnesium and aluminium are classified as a metal because it is a very good conductor of electricity. Silicon is classified as a metalloid because it is a very weak conductor of electricity. However, its oxide is acidic. Phosphorus and Sulphur are classified as non-metal it is because it is a poor electrical conductor. The element changes from being a metal ,to a metalloid and non-metal. In additional, the oxides change from being basic to amphoteric and acidic, For example, sodium and magnesium its oxide is basic. Aluminium its oxide is amphoteric. Aluminium oxide shows both metallic and non-metallic properties . Phosphorus ,and sulphur its oxide is acidic. When going across Period 3from left to right, the trend of structure and bonding change from giant ionic structure to a solid covalent giant structure in the middle and to the simple molecular .Not only that ,going through the experiment observe the melting point, boiling point, ph value and understand and know their structure and bonding.
