This experiment is described to test the theory for the modulus of elasticity, which is said to be in the essence of the stiffness of a material. It is done through the deflection of a cantilever, or a beam that is only supported at one end that allows the cantilever to be bent on the other end. The relationship of the given equation is defined as the ratio of tensile stress (𝜎) to tensile strain (𝜀) to represent Young’s Modulus. In the term of the experiment, Young’s Modulus is determined by using a series of different data observations from the changes of distance caused by the deflection of the cantilever either to oppose or to exhibit its elasticity. The data from the result is compared with that value from the static position of the meter-rule (cantilever) and the agreement of relation of both variables is satisfactory.
