The thyroid gland is a part of the endocrine system that regulates the levels of hormones in the human body and controls distant target organs. Thyroids play an important role in releasing hormones such as Triiodothyronine, Thyroxine and calcitonin. Therefore, knowledge about thyroid gland is important especially among healthcare staffs such as physicians and nurses to establish a better management towards the disease. For example, treatment includes Synthroid, antithyroid medicine, beta blockers and radioiodine treatment. Therefore, understanding of the thyroid gland is highly important for nurses or physicians.
