This is established throughout his work The Road to Wigan Pier that is divided into two parts. The first part of his work focuses on describing the living conditions of the employed in contrast with the unemployed in North England during the period of 1930s. While the latter half of his publishing develops theories that poverty and the predicament faced by the citizens of Northern England can be eliminated.
