2 Pages Essays / Projects Year: Pre-2021

This reflection was inspired by the powerful film, Amish and Grace. The film was based off a true story of a gunman who killed five Amish children and critically injured five others in an Amish school in 2006. Amish people are a traditional groups of Christian Church fellowships. Amish people dress simply and do not own necessities that most people in our society have today. Because of their simple way of life, they are able to preserve their traditions and stay in touch with their religion and belief systems. Throughout the movie, there were several scenes that displayed the aspects of forgiveness and compassion. Personally, I felt that it was truly admirable that the Amish people were able to show such compassion and forgiveness even if the situation did not call for it. In this way, I had both positive and negative feelings and thoughts about the Amish people’s actions.
