The significance of the asymptotic behavior of rational functions is that it allows us to understand the behavior of +∞ and −∞. The knowledge of asymptotic behavior can also be utilised making limitations in real-life such as architecture and engineering. Additionally, finding the vertical asymptote would allow us to determine the point at which the function is undefined. Likewise, horizontal and oblique asymptotes would tell us the general structure of the function as x approaches larger values. These findings could also be used to figure out these details in other types of functions, not just rational functions.
