Sample Text:
Various vectors are found throughout everyday lives, especially when determining the position of one point in space relative to another. Any vector can have a variety of mathematical forms to define it. In this investigation, square parenthesis component form, [x- component, y component] will be the main medium of defining vectors, with the x c0mponent being the horizontal step of the vector and the y component being the vertical step. This investigation explores the path sailed by two main yachts, investigating their proximity to one another. An assortment of algebraic and technological techniques will be used to draw effective conclusions, as well as identifying the reasonableness and limitations of the ‘results’. Section A In Section A of the investigation, there are two yachts, Yacht A, having its initial...

Mosquitoes DI

This student studied:
SACE - Year 11 - Mathematical Methods

Mosquito A and Mosquito B are moving in straight lines in 3D space with paths that can be given by lines in Vector, Parametric or Cartesian forms. Through vector geometry and algebra, these paths will be manipulated to determine the speed of the mosquitoes, and hence an equation giving the distance between the two mosquitoes at any time will be determined. From this, the shortest distance between the two will be identified. Finally, this information shall be used to determine the most effective method of exterminating the two mosquitoes with insecticide by developing conical models, with supporting discussions of the ‘results’ at the end.
