Properties of rollercoasters can be described by using mathematical methods, such as using the knowledge and application of functions and differential calculus. Therefore different types of functions such as polynomials, asymptotes, parametric functions, exponentials or trigonometric functions can be used to describe the shape of a rollercoaster. These functions can be implemented together to form the entire rollercoaster track. However, in order to design an effective rollercoaster, these functions must meet up at the same point with the same gradient at that certain point. This will ensure that the rollercoaster track is as smooth as possible so that passengers of the ride will not experience any unpleasant bumps along the track and are able to have a safe and enjoyable experience. The purpose of this report is to design an effective exciting, thrilling and safe two-dimensional rollercoaster for Dee Why DX Amusement Park by using the application of differential calculus of functions
