IA1 Mathematical Methods: The purpose of this problem-solving and modelling task is to determine whether equations of linear, quadratic and cubic functions can be used to produce a suitable rooftop for a two-storey building, with a single-storey extension. Three suggestions will be provided for the roof designs. Each roof must consider that it has to cover a balcony as well. Various forms of graphing technology will be used to determine appropriate models and solve equations that cannot be solved analytically.
