sample text: Formal testing- baseline, multistage fitness test (Beep test) e.g. is an example of a field test that can be used to measure and monitor these training adaptations. This is a popular test among athletes because it is easy to administer and is valid and reliable, as the test is the same every time it is administered and results can be compared to standardised norms. Involves athletes running continuously between two points which are about 20 metres apart, where the time taken to run this distance slowly decreases. This forces the athlete to increase their speed throughout the course of the test, which therefore measures cardiovascular fitness. Other tests such as VO2 max tests and body composition tests are performed in the laboratory, and more sophisticate testing may involve blood sampling. However, the best measure of training adaptions in response to aerobic training will be a gradual improvement in performance
