Task Description: Representing the Other – Appropriation of texts During Terms 1 and 2 we have studied the concept of postcolonialism and the way it is appropriated through shifting context in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now. This second assessment is a take home essay task. You are to write a 1500 word essay which answers the following question: How does Apocalypse Now appropriate a key element in Heart of Darkness? It is expected that in your essay you will discuss the context and form of each text as part of your discussion of appropriation.
