Module C - Ted Hughes
Module C - Conflict Perspectives
Can be quite easy if you know what you’re doing. Basically you just talk about how texts can be used to shape the representation of an event, a place, or an individual’s perspective. Consistently mention the fact that composers are using these texts as a means to convey their own perspective and how this leads to conflicts in what is perceived to be the ‘truth’. Pretty much just about how truth is subjective and thus there are loads of different perspectives, and composers are using texts as a medium or vehicle to harbour their perspective. By manipulating textual form, they enhance the validity of their perspective, and make it seem more likely than other peoples. Eg. in Ted Hughes, his use of the poetic form, which is generally very emotional and intense (compared to say, a novel) is used to amplify his perspective and mirror the emotional rollercoaster of his relationship with Sylvia Plath
