Individuals can be filled with regret for what has been lost whilst looking back on past relationships, experiences and attitudes. As Paul in Peter Goldsworthy's Maestro and Ted Hughes from Birthday letters reflect upon aspect of their lives such as previous experiences and how they’re haunted and impacted by them. In hindsight, they feel a sense of great loss comparing past and present self. Aspects of our lives such as relationships and attitudes we have towards experience can leave an individual with a sense of regret. Memories can haunt an individual unable to fully escape their past relationships and experiences leaving them with a sense of regret. As Ted Hughes reflects upon his relationship with his wife Sylvia Plath, it is revealed that there were some aspects he can not forget whilst looking in hindsight....
