This is a summative essay for the module "Beginnings: English Literature Before 1800" and compares how a monarchical image is constructed through the physical body in "Richard III" and "The Faerie Queen." Mark received: 68. Feedback: This is a very good, detailed essay comparing representations of Richard III and Elizabeth I. It contains some outstanding and original analysis and use of primary sources. It is well researched and the analysis is well informed on the whole. The essay produces some excellent close reading. It is rather packed with critical references towards the end, which suggests the essay could have done with better planning. You are also occasionally drawing on critics (like Montrose) via other critics, and you should quote directly to demonstrate you have read the critics you apply. The essay could give more thought to the argument and overall planning, so that a dialogue between the independent close reading and secondary critical reading can more clearly emerge. It is not clear if all sources are referenced in the bibliography, so that might need some attention too. Overall, a good piece of work with much potential if you attend to some of the issues mentioned here and in the direct comments in margins of the essay itself.
