6 Pages Essays / Projects Year Uploaded: 2022

This is an essay for the module "Film Studies: An Introduction" which looked at popular film theory The Male Gaze in relation to Revenge (2017). Mark received: 67. Feedback: This essay looks at Mulvey's theory of the male gaze, succinctly summarising some the key tenets with reference to Hitchcock, before moving on to consider a more recent film, Revenge, that the writer sees as a deliberate subversion of the male gaze - (as per Kaufman's review of the film in the Independent). The first half of the essay is clear and concise, and the second half largely convincing in its analysis, and also careful to use key terms of formal film study to help aid the precision of its description of events within the film. Overall, this is focused and interesting work.
